Travel Procedures
For teams wishing to travel within the United States, Mexico, or Canada, permission of the state
association, utilizing the appropriate application for travel form, is all that is required.
The completed application is to be sent to the state office. Along with the application, you must
send a state stamped roster listing all players and team officials. A check payable to WVSSA must
accompany the application. Fees are listed below.
Thirty days advance notice is required. Permission to travel cannot be granted if your host is
unaffiliated or in bad standing with their association or if a tournament has not been properly sanctioned
by the host state association. Appropriate action will be taken against teams who travel without permission.
USYS Player Passes must be carried when playing out of state. Medical releases are always required
for tournaments. (USYS Medical release forms are available from WVSA).
Teams wishing to travel to countries other than Canada and Mexico must submit applications for
travel to their state association at least ninety days in advance. The state association will forward all
copies to USYSA which in turn will notify the national association in the country or countries. A
copy of the approved application will be returned the state association and also to the traveling team.
the permission to travel form must be carried with the team while traveling.
A travel processing fee of $25.00 payable to the U.S.S.F. must accompany the application for travel
when it is submitted to USYSA. Forms without the processing fee will be returned. A team which
travels without securing approval shall be subject to sanctions by its state association and USYSA,
including the possible prohibition of future travel or suspension of the parties responsible.
Fees:
Tournament Sanctioning:
$ 25.00 -- if application is received 6 months prior to the event
$ 50.00 -- if application is received less than 6 months prior to event
$100.00 -- if application is received less than 30 days prior to the tournament
(sanctioning this may be denied)
Tournament Guest player:
$ 5.00 -- 14 days prior to event
$ 10.00 -- 7 days prior to event
$ 15.00 -- less than 7 days but more than 48 hours
$ 20.00 -- 48 hours or less prior to event
Travel Permits:
$ 10.00 -- if requested 30 prior to travel date
$ 20.00 -- if requested less than 30 days prior to travel date
$ 30.00 -- if requested less than 48 hours prior to travel date
Out of State Play:
$10.00 -- Per player/per team
USYSA Travel & Tournament Manuals may be purchased from the state office for $5.00
All requests for tournament sanctioning and travel permits must be made in writing. Requests
must include check made payable to WVSA in the amount of the fees stated above. Applications
without attached fees will not be processed.
